Mahogany Writing Chest

An elegant Mahogany veneer writing chest, brass bound with intricate brass work and flush brass handles. Early nineteenth century. Golden yellow leather on slopes, the lower slope hinged, the upper slope lifts out with leather finger tabs. A new tray beneath the upper slope conceals three secret drawers. The interior is lined in walnut carrot- leaf pattern, faded jade and yellow suede lokta hand-made papers. Secret drawers lined with walnut fern leaf pattern. Working lock with key.
