Mahogany Writing Chest

A substantial solid Mahogany writing chest with brass handles. Brass oval inset with thistles motif on lid and brass holly leaf keyhole. Writing slopes of red textured leather and hot plaid batik patterned paper, the lower slope is hinged, the upper slope lifts out with leather finger tabs. A new tray rests beneath the upper slope, split into three compartments lined in jewel eye batik paper. The tray lifts out, revealing the grain of the wood at the bottom of the box.
