Solid Mahogany writing chest, dating from the early nineteenth century. Brass holly leaf shaped inset on lid and at keyhole, flush brass handles. Slopes covered with mustard yellow leather and walnut carrot leaf patterned paper, lower slope hinged, upper slope lifts up with leather finger tabs. Hidden bottom drawer with brass locking pin. Interior lined with dull apple suede lokta and cream/gold marbled papers. Working lock with key. A stunning box with lovely subtle colours inside and a gleaming exterior - ideal as a special gift.
