Rosewood Writing Chest

Nineteenth century Rosewood veneer writing chest, with brass lion’s head inset on lid, decorative brass at keyhole, brass bound with flush brass handles. Veneer on the lid has a central fracture (see photo) but the integrity of the box is still sound so this has not been replaced. Slopes covered in wine-coloured leather and cheetah animal print paper. Three secret drawers.Instructions for opening inside the box.Hidden bottom drawer with brass locking pin. Interior lined with cheetah animal print and bright green lokta papers. Working lock with key. A stunning box which clearly has a history but is now in great condition for the next hundred years. JB0094
